Regular Season Round 11: Bigua - Penarol 69-86

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo:Penarol (#1) and Bigua (#7). Bigua was crushed at home by 17 points 69-86 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bigua. Penarol looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Naturalized Italian swingman Nicola Pomoli (195-1999) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Santiago Vescovi (191-2001, college: Tennessee) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. Dominican Jhery Matos (196-1996, college: Charlotte) answered with 20 points and American center Franklin Hassell (205-1988, college: ODU) added 11 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Bigua. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Penarol maintains first place with 8-1 record. Bigua at the other side keeps the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Urunday.
