Another exciting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Montevideo:Penarol (#1) and Defensor (#6). Penarol (8-1) won against visiting Defensor (5-4) 85-72 . It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Defensor. They outrebounded Defensor 45-26 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Penarol looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized Italian swingman Nicola Pomoli (195-1999) who led the winners and scored 31 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Martin Rojas (195-1998) accounted for 11 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. American point guard Elijah Weaver (197-1998, college: Chicago St.) came up with 29 points and center Theo Metzger (200-1999) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Defensor in the defeat. Penarol maintains first place with 8-1 record. Loser Defensor keeps the sixth position with four games lost.
