LUB top team -Penarol (14-1) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Cordon (2-13) in Montevideo 77-58 . Penarol outrebounded Cordon 46-30 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Penarol looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Cordon 's players. Naturalized Italian swingman Nicola Pomoli (195-1999) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Forward Emiliano Serres (204-1997) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. American guard Addison Spruill (195-1993, college: UNCW) produced 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Devon Higgs (196-2000, college: GSW, agency: JCK Sports Group) added 18 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Penarol have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-1 record.
