There was a surprise result when twelfth rankedWelcome (4-18) beat higher ranked Bigua (11-11) in Montevideo 86-81 on Wednesday. Welcome looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Rashad Hassan (203-1989, college: SSU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). point guard Juan Martin Ortiz (185-2002) accounted for 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American point guard Deshone Hicks (178-1999, college: Ferrum) came up with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Dominican Jhery Matos (196-1996, college: Charlotte) added 15 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Bigua in the defeat. Welcome moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Bigua dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with U.Atletica.
