Second Stage Round 5: Malvin - Penarol 67-96

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Montevideo:Penarol (#1) and Malvin (#3). Malvin was crushed at home by 29 points 67-96 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Malvin. Penarol players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Guard Santiago Vescovi (191-2001, college: Tennessee) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Skyler Hogan (196-1997, college: SEMO) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. American guard Joshua Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) answered with 13 points and 9 assists and naturalized Italian point guard Manuel Romero (183-1992) added 12 points in the effort for Malvin. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Penarol maintains first place with 21-4 record. Malvin at the other side keeps the third position with nine games lost.
