Regular Season Round 12: Spartans - Marinos 78-79

The most exciting game of round 12 in the SPB took place in Caracas. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th rankedSpartans (5-4) to second ranked Marinos (7-3) 79-78 on Wednesday evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Spartans helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tony Farmer (201-1994, college: Lee JC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import swingman Wesley Saunders (196-1993, college: Harvard) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Marinos' coach Claudio Jorquera used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Argentinian-American Erik Thomas (195-1995, college: New Orleans) with 15 points and 6 rebounds and American-Nigerian swingman Tanksley Efianayi (198-1994, college: UCF) scored 20 points. Four Spartans players scored in double figures. Marinos maintains second position with 7-3 record behind leader Gaiteros. Spartans lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Trotamundos and Frontinos.
