No shocking result in a game when second rankedMarinos (9-4) beat 11th ranked Gladiadores (4-7) in Puerto La Cruz 97-91 on Tuesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. American guard Michael Bryson (193-1994, college: UCSB) nailed 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import swingman Wesley Saunders (196-1993, college: Harvard) accounted for 26 points and 5 rebounds. The former international forward Michael Carrera (196-1993, college: S.Carolina, agency: BIG) came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and international point guard Gregory Vargas (181-1986) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for Gladiadores in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Marinos maintains second place with 9-4 record having just two points less than leader Gaiteros. Gladiadores lost their fourth game in a row. Defending champion keep the eleventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Panteras.
