There was a surprise result when tenth rankedGladiadores (6-7) beat higher ranked Cocodrilos (6-7) in Caracas 85-78 on Saturday. The winners were led by the former international forward Michael Carrera (196-1993, college: S.Carolina, agency: BIG) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and international point guard Gregory Vargas (181-1986) supported him with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds by American power forward Willie Reed (211-1990, college: St.Louis, agency: Diamond Sports) did not help to save the game for Cocodrilos . International swingman Franger Pirela (187-2002) added 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Five Gladiadores and four Cocodrilos players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Cocodrilos.
