There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most important game in the last round took place in Parana between third ranked Villa S.Martin (10-4) and sixth ranked Echague (9-5) on Sunday night. Villa S.Martin was defeated by Echague in a tough game on the road 71-76. Forward Martin Chervo (200-92) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Luciano Silva (190-96) chipped in 22 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Anton Waters (200-93, college: WKU) with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Echague have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Villa S.Martin at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. Echague are looking forward to face league's leader Union SF in Santa Fe in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Villa S.Martin will have a break next round.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Quilmes MP (7-7) against ninth ranked Lanus (4-6) on Monday night. Host Quilmes MP was defeated by Lanus in a tough game in Mar del Plata 64-70. American forward Justin Everett (206-96, college: Humboldt St.) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and Andres Mariani supported him with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Lanus' coach Leonardo Costa allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 18 points and 9 rebounds by Jeffrey Merchant (197-97) did not help to save the game for Quilmes MP. Newly promoted Lanus maintains ninth position with 4-6 record. Quilmes MP at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Quilmes MP (7-7) against ninth ranked Rivadavia (4-7) on Thursday night. Host Quilmes MP was defeated by Rivadavia in Mar del Plata 89-75. The best player for the winners was Guido Francese who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Blake Marquardt who recorded 26 points. Despite that victory Rivadavia went down to tenth position due to points difference, which they share with Ciclista and Atenas. Loser Quilmes MP keeps the third place with seven games lost.
The game between Top Four teams took place in General Roca. 4th ranked host Progreso (6-6) lost to first ranked Dep Viedma (9-2) 84-80. It was a good game for Fermin Thygesen who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 5 assists. Dep Viedma's coach Guillermo Bogliacino used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Dep Viedma have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-2 record. Progreso lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. Dep Viedma's next round opponent will be Atenas (#10) in Carmen de Patagones and are hoping to win another game.
La Liga Argentina top team - Union SF (11-3) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat ninth ranked Olimpico (5-7) in Santa Fe 96-83. Maximiliano Martin scored 27 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Union SF's coach Juan Francisco Ponce used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Union SF have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-3 record. Olimpico lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with seven games lost. Union SF will face Echague (#4) in Parana in the next round. Olimpico will play on the road against Sp.America (#9) in Rosario and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 18: Independiente won against Sp.America on the opponent's court 77-66. Colon SF unfortunately lost to Tiro Federal in a home game 80-87. Quilmes MP managed to beat Racing on the road 87-79. Lanus was defeated by Ciclista on its own court 73-74. Salta Basket beat Riachuelo LR in a road game 86-78. Ciclista lost to GELP at home 65-77. Villa S.Martin managed to outperform Independiente on the opponent's court 84-77. GELP was rolled over Quilmes MP in a home game 71-95. Ciclista crushed Rivadavia on the road 98-62. GELP smashed Rivadavia on its own court 84-64. Racing won against Lanus in Chivilcoy 74-73.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 29 points and 9 rebounds by Julian Morales of Racing.



Sp.America - Independiente 66-77

There was an upset in Rosario where higher ranked Sp.America (5-7) was defeated by fourteenth ranked Independiente (2-12) 77-66 on Sunday. Independiente made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Sp.America turnovers. Strangely Sp.America outrebounded Independiente 40-23 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard Damian Palacios (178-85) scored 26 points and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Bruno Ingratta (202-85) chipped in 19 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Emilio Stucky (198-94) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds and naturalized Italian center Omar Canton (205-82) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Independiente maintains fourteenth position with 2-12 record, which they share with Riachuelo LR. Sp.America lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost. There was no surprise in Buenos Aires where 9th ranked Lanus (4-6) was edged by sixth ranked Racing (6-3) 74-73 on Wednesday. Strangely Lanus outrebounded Racing 47-35 including 18 on the offensive glass. Swingman Julian Morales (195-95) scored 29 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Juan Ignacio Fernandez (195-99, agency: BIG) chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Justin Everett (206-96, college: Humboldt St.) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and Andres Mariani (190-87) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Racing moved-up to fifth place, which they share with GELP. Newly promoted Lanus keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Racing will face Ciclista (#11) in Juninense in the next round where they are favorite.
