LDD Round 13: Regatas beat Riachuelo LR by two after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 13 in the LDD took place in La Rioja. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Riachuelo LR (8-6) to fourth ranked Regatas (11-4) 76-74 on Sunday evening. Regatas forced 20 Riachuelo LR turnovers and outrebounded them 47-36 including 33 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Regatas made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Felipe Valsangiacomo (180-3) who helped to win the game recording 8 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Fabio Gauto (190-2) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Regatas' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Lucas Gallardo (199-1) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds for Riachuelo LR. Regatas have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Riachuelo LR at the other side keeps the eighth position with six games lost. Regatas are looking forward to face Instituto (#7) in Cordoba in the next round. Riachuelo LR will play at home against Obras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Comunicaciones (13-1) which hosted in Mercedes 3rd placed Boca Jrs (10-2). First ranked Comunicaciones managed to get a 6-point victory 82-76. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Boca Jrs. Swingman Matias Nunez (191-99) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Francisco Llanos chipped in 7 points, 10 rebounds and 17 assists. At the losing side Manuel Rodriguez (203-2) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Boca Jrs' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Comunicaciones maintains first place with 13-1 record. Boca Jrs at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
A very close game took place in Cordoba between Atenas and Instituto. Ninth ranked Atenas (7-7) got a very close victory on the road over 4th placed Instituto (9-5). Atenas managed to escape with a 1-point win 79-78 on Sunday evening. Ignacio Segura nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side. Juan Frontera came up with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for Instituto in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Atenas went down to eleventh position due to points difference. Loser Instituto dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. Atenas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Instituto will play against Regatas (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.

Other games in round 13 were not that significant. Bottom-ranked Platense was smashed by Obera on the road 97-68. H.Americano was destroyed by Gimnasia on its own court 49-80. Quimsa unfortunately lost to San Martin in Corrientes 70-81. Obras rolled over Olimpico at home 78-51. San Lorenzo was defeated by Union on the opponent's court 76-80. La Union was beaten by Quimsa in a home game 80-91. San Martin won against Gimnasia on the road 73-57. Atenas unfortunately lost to Regatas on its own court 73-79.
The most impressive performance of 13th round was 24 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals by Dylan Bordon of SAN MARTIN.



Obera - Platense 97-68

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Obera (10-5) crushed at home bottom-ranked Platense (1-12) 97-68 on Saturday. Obera dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Platense's 36. Obera forced 19 Platense turnovers and outrebounded them 55-29 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Platense's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Obera made 10 blocks. Power forward Stefano Alesso (211-3) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points, 20 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks for the winning side and guard Francisco Tarnowyk (192-1) accounted for 31 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Felipe Massa (184-2) came up with 23 points and 6 rebounds and Jamiro Comesanana (-3) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Platense in the defeat. Obera maintains fifth place with 10-5 record. Platense lost their tenth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Obera will meet at home Union (#6) in the next round. Platense will play against Penarol (#16) and hope to win that game.

Rather expected game when 19th ranked H.Americano (1-11) was smashed by seventeenth ranked Gimnasia CR (3-12) in Rio Gallegos 80-49 on Saturday. Gimnasia CR made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 H.Americano turnovers and outrebounded them 47-36 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Leandro Fogel (201-0) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and guard Tomas Solis (188-3) accounted for 14 points and 13 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Swingman Ramiro Ledesma (192-0) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and guard Braulio Soules (185-3) added 10 points respectively for H.Americano in the defeat. H.Americano's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Gimnasia CR maintains seventeenth place with 3-12 record. H.Americano lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the nineteenth position with 11 games lost.
