LDD Round 20: Top-ranked Comunicaciones win another game

LDD top team - Comunicaciones (17-2) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Riachuelo LR (11-9) in Mercedes 116-92. Comunicaciones had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists. Power forward Lucas Mercadino (204-3) orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field). Forward Franco Maeso (197-1) contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Comunicaciones' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Yoel Cuenca (178-99) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals for Riachuelo LR. Comunicaciones have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-2 record. Riachuelo LR at the other side keeps the eighth place with nine games lost. Comunicaciones are looking forward to face Union (#9) in Santa Fe in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Riachuelo LR will play at home against Boca Jrs and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Important game to mention about took place in Florida. Eighteenth ranked Platense (4-16) saved a 2-point victory at home edging higher ranked Instituto (16-6) 78-76 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Giuliano Michelangei (180-0) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 rebounds and Juan Cox who added 22 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Platense's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. point guard Juan Frontera (178-2) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. Platense maintains eighteenth position with 4-16 record. Instituto at the other side dropped to the second place with six games lost. Platense will play against higher ranked La Union (#15) in Formosa in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Instituto will play at home against Quimsa (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

La Union's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by Maximo Araujo did not help to save the game for Atenas. La Union maintains fifteenth position with 7-10 record. Atenas lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with ten games lost. La Union will meet at home Platense (#18) in the next round. Atenas will play against Quimsa (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 20: bottom-ranked H.Americano was smashed by Gimnasia on the road 78-54. Penarol lost to Boca Jrs. on its own court 74-92. Instituto managed to outperform San Lorenzo in Cordoba 79-73. Regatas managed to beat Platense at home 97-82. San Lorenzo was crushed by Ferro on the opponent's court 79-52.
The most impressive performance of 20th round was 18 points and 12 rebounds by Marcos Gonzalez of La Union.

La Union - Atenas 78-70

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Atenas (10-10) and La Union (7-10), which took place in Formosa.
