The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Obras - Penarol 79-90 There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Penarol (10-13) beat higher ranked Obras (12-8) in Buenos Aires 90-79 on Friday. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Tomas Framinan (177-3) who led the winners and scored 27 points. Forward Tomas Cattaneo (198-1) accounted for 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. Chilean point guard Felipe Inyaco (192-2) came up with 42 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Franco Palacios (-3) added 7 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Obras in the defeat. Obras' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Penarol moved-up to thirteenth place. Loser Obras dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Penarol will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Obras will play against Platense (#19) in Florida and hope to secure a win. This time they beat fifteenth ranked La Union (8-12) in Mercedes 92-83. Comunicaciones looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Swingman Matias Nunez (191-99) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Power forward Lucas Mercadino (204-3) contributed with 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Agustin Sigel (165-2) answered with 31 points and 6 rebounds and DR Congolese forward David Efambe (201-1) added 24 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for La Union. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Comunicaciones have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 20-2 record. La Union at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with 12 games lost. Comunicaciones are looking forward to face Riachuelo LR (#11) in La Rioja in the next round and are hoping to win another game. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Juan Frontera (178-2) who led the winners and scored 24 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Juan Tulian (196-0) accounted for 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side. Instituto's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Mateo Corso (185-4) came up with 20 points and 5 rebounds and forward Lautaro Velasquez (200-2) added 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Riachuelo LR in the defeat. It was a great evening for Manuel Rodriguez (203-2) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Swingman Juan Guerrero (194-3) helped adding 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Boca Jrs players scored in double figures. Point guard Tobias Franchela (185-1) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Juan Scacchi (186-1) scored 20 points. Regatas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Boca Jrs. They maintain fourth place with 17-2 record. Regatas at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Boca Jrs will play against league's second-placed San Martin in Corrientes in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
