LDD Round 12 (Regular Season): Independ.O. beats Ferro by one after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 12 in the LDD took place in Olivia. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Ferro (10-4) to sixth ranked Independ.O. (9-5) 69-68 on Wednesday evening. Independ.O. outrebounded Ferro 46-33 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for point guard Jorge Garcia (180) who saved his team from a defeat with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Nicolas Marcucci (190-2002) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Independ.O.'s coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Martin Gonzalez (-2007) replied with 13 points and 6 rebounds for Ferro. Independ.O. have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 9-5 record. Ferro at the other side dropped to the second place with four games lost. Independ.O. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ferro will play at home against San Martin and is hoping to win this game.
LDD top team - Gimnasia CR (13-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat tenth ranked Argentino (5-6) in Junin 67-54. Worth to mention a quality performance of Dominican swingman Angel Reyes (201-2002) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 20 rebounds and 4 blocks and Valentino Ayala who added 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Augusto Gennero (188-2003) with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Gimnasia CR have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-1 record. Argentino lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with six games lost. They share the position with Union. Gimnasia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Argentino will play at home against Instituto (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The winners were led by Angel Reyes who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 15 points and 5 rebounds by Nicolas Chiaraviglio did not help to save the game for Penarol. Penarol's coach Tomas Sirochinsky gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Gimnasia CR have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-1 record. Loser Penarol dropped to the sixteenth place with eight games lost. Gimnasia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Penarol will play against Comunicaciones (#5) and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 12: Regatas was beaten by Instituto on the road 78-70. Union won against San Lorenzo on its own court 92-84. San Lorenzo unfortunately lost to Instituto in Cordoba 58-75. Union rolled over Regatas at home 101-73. Ferro crushed Olimpico on the opponent's court 71-52. La Union was smashed by Riachuelo in a home game 62-91.
The most impressive performance of 12th round was 19 points and 4 blocks by Jeremias Barco of Riachuelo LR.




Instituto - Regatas 78-70

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Instituto (8-3) beat 17th ranked Regatas (4-9) in Cordoba 78-70 on Wednesday. Instituto dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Regatas' 24. Instituto forced 20 Regatas turnovers and outrebounded them 51-31 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Instituto made 8 blocks. The winners were led by Kadir Pomare who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Ignacio Beltramino (179) supported him with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Instituto's coach Mauro Salinas used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Francisco Ferraro (196-2004) did not help to save the game for Regatas. Juan Larraza added 19 points. The winners were led by Estanislao Crespi who scored that evening 23 points and 9 rebounds and Agustin Ferrari (-2005) supported him with 22 points. Union's coach Martin Castellazzi allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 26 points and 9 rebounds by Thiago Roca (-2004) did not help to save the game for San Lorenzo. Eduardo Santamaria added 17 points and 8 rebounds.
