San Martin can celebrate their first win this season after one consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Union (4-3) 65-54 on Monday. The best player for the winners was Franco Mendez (188-2002) who scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Ramiro Ledesma (192-2000) chipped in 8 points and 11 rebounds. The former international Mauro Cosolito (192-1988) produced 11 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San Martin (1-1) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place. Union at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. San Martin's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Corrientes to the arena Regatas.
La Union can celebrate their first win this season after two consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Union (4-3) 90-79. Naturalized American guard Romeao Ferguson (196-1997, college: Lipscomb) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds. DeMarco Owens contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. point guard Alejandro Konsztadt (190-1989) answered with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for Union. Union SF's coach Maximiliano Seigorman rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. La Union (1-2) left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with Zarate. Union at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. La Union will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Union will play on the road against Regatas (#17) in Corrientes and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Platense (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 85-79 loss to fifth ranked Ferro (3-2) in Florida on Saturday evening. Tomas Spano stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners. Ferro's coach Federico Fernandez used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Eric Flor responded with 15 points and 8 assists. Despite that victory Ferro went down to eighth position due to points difference, which they share with Obras. Loser Platense still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Argentino. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Other games of round 5 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
winless Argentino was defeated by Riachuelo in La Rioja 87-76. La Union lost to undefeated Obera at home 96-103. Obera won against Regatas on the opponent's court 83-81. Quimsa outscored Argentino in a home game 100-75. San Lorenzo managed to beat Ferro on the road 77-73. Obras was defeated by Riachuelo on its own court 80-84.



Platense - Ferro 79-85

Bottom-ranked Platense (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 85-79 loss to fifth ranked Ferro (3-2) in Florida on Saturday evening. Point guard Tomas Spano (183-1998) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and point guard Emiliano Lezcano (187-2001) chipped in 19 points. Riachuelo outrebounded Argentino 42-31 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds.
