Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Instituto (3-1) in La Rioja on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Riachuelo (2-1) 71-67. Riachuelo forced 19 Instituto turnovers. 28 personal fouls committed by Instituto helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Agustina Garcia (173-1996) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Julieta Tell (172-1993, agency: BIG) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. point guard Julieta Sienra (161-2003) replied with 21 points for Instituto. Instituto's coach Daiana Di Benedetto tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Riachuelo moved-up to third place. Instituto at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. Riachuelo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Instituto will play at home against the league's leader Gorriones and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in James Craik. Fifth ranked Quimsa (2-2) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Chanares (2-2) 56-54 in the fight for the fourth place. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Lorena Campos (171-1999) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and Lucia Boggetti who added 9 points during the contest. At the losing side naturalized Italian point guard Regina Carosio (165-1986) responded with 13 points and 4 steals (made all of her seven free throws). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Quimsa moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Chanares. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Buenos Aires: Ferro (#2) and Berazategui (#3). Berazategui was defeated at home 65-75 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Berazategui. The winners were led by Florencia Fernandez who scored that evening 13 points and 9 rebounds. Even 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by Sofia Acevedo did not help to save the game for Berazategui. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Ferro (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Loser Berazategui keeps the third place with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Other games in round 4 were not that significant. Rocamora was smashed by Union Florida on the road 68-46. Winless Lanus was destroyed by Obras on its own court 58-84. Quimsa unfortunately lost to Gorriones in Rio Cuarto 68-82. Winless Montmartre was rolled over Instituto at home 40-118.
