Instituto (9-1) recorded its first loss in Cordoba on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked La Union (8-3) 68-62. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Instituto. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The best player for the winners was Franco Gimenez (190) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Augusto Moresco chipped in 16 points. produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. La Union moved-up to second place. Instituto at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked La Union (8-3) against seventeenth ranked Atenas (3-8) on Wednesday night. Visiting La Union was defeated by Atenas in Cordoba 81-71. orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Benjamin Imaz contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Franco Gimenez (190) answered with 22 points and 7 rebounds for La Union. Atenas moved-up to fifteenth place. La Union at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
A very close game took place in Olivia between La Union and Independ.O.. Third ranked La Union (8-3) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Independ.O. (4-3). La Union managed to escape with a 1-point win 85-84 on Tuesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It was a great evening for Augusto Moresco who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Carlos Hurtado responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds. Independ.O.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. La Union moved-up to second place. Loser Independ.O. dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with Racing Ch.. La Union will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Independ.O. will play against Ferro (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 11 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Boca Jrs. was defeated by Gimnasia in Comodoro Rivadavia 106-93. Regatas smashed Quimsa at home 86-56. Boca Jrs. lost to Penarol on the opponent's court 65-68. Gimnasia managed to outperform San Lorenzo in a home game 85-76. Union rolled over Olimpico on the road 104-77.




Gimnasia - Boca Jrs. 106-93

There was no surprise in Comodoro Rivadavia where 13th ranked Boca Jrs (3-7) was defeated by fourth ranked Gimnasia CR (6-2) 106-93 on Tuesday. Gimnasia looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for Venezuelan center Jesus Centeno (205-2006) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Valentino Ayala helped adding 19 points and 5 assists. Gimnasia CR's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Tiago Drocezesky (193-2005) responded with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and Octavio Donzino produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Gimnasia and five Boca Jrs. players scored in double figures. Gimnasia CR have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 6-2 record. Boca Jrs. lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Gimnasia will meet at home Regatas (#5) in the next round. Boca Jrs. will play against Regatas (#5) and hope to secure a win.

Regatas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Quimsa lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with six games lost. They share it with San Martin. Regatas will meet Boca Jrs. (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Quimsa will play against Union and hope to secure a win.
