La Liga Argentina Round 3 (Regular Season): San Isidro keep a leadership position

San Isidro defeated Salta Basket in San Francisco 88-80. San Isidro made 27-of-33 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. 28 personal fouls committed by Salta Basket helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was who scored 23 points and 8 rebounds. American Chris Hooper (198-1991, college: SFC) chipped in 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was Wilfredo Alvarez who recorded 16 points and 6 rebounds.
C.Entrerriano (1-1) recorded a loss in Gualeguaychu. Hosts were defeated by Racing A. (2-1) 76-66. It was a good game for Ecuadorian power forward Matias Nunez (202-1995) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Rafael Rosende contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Racing A.'s coach Juan Boadaz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Ecuadorian forward Johu Castillo (200-1999) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for C.Entrerriano. Racing A. will play against Rocamora (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. C.Entrerriano will play against U.Mar del Plata (#17) to get more than just one victory in their record.
An interesting game was played in La Plata where host GELP (#8) won against Provincial 88-80 on Friday evening. It was a great evening for Gianfranco Sinconi who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was Adrian Boccia with 19 points and 7 rebounds. GELP will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Provincial will play against Ciclista (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 3 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Las Heras was crushed by Suardi in a road game 98-66. Estudiantes T. beat Colon at home 77-73. Lanus lost to Ciclista on the opponent's court 63-69. Pico FC managed to outperform Dep Norte in a home game 83-75. Amancay recorded a loss to Hindu on the road 76-69. Villa S.Martin defeated Rivadavia on its own court 63-57.
The best stats of 3rd round was 14 points and 16 rebounds by Elian Centeno of Villa S.Martin.



C.Entrerriano - Racing A. 66-76

C.Entrerriano (1-1) recorded a loss in Gualeguaychu. Hosts were defeated by Racing A. (2-1) 76-66. Racing A. made 18-of-20 charity shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Suardi - Las Heras 98-66

There was an upset when Las Heras (1-2) was crushed on the road by Suardi (1-1) 98-66 on Thursday. Suardi dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Las Heras' 30. They outrebounded Las Heras 42-27 including 34 on the defensive glass. Suardi looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for Gaston Fino who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 5 rebounds. Pablo Martinez helped adding 19 points. The best for the losing side was Chilean Martin Irrutia (-1999) with 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Venezuelan center Javinger Vargas (202-1990) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Suardi will meet at home Estudiantes T. (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Las Heras will have a break next round.

However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Estudiantes T. forced 20 Colon turnovers. It was a great evening for American forward Joe Hampton (203-1998, college: LBSU) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 steals. Juan Bollo helped adding 12 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was with 18 points and 6 rebounds and Hans Feder scored 19 points. Five Estudiantes T. and four Colon players scored in double figures. Estudiantes T. will meet Suardi (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Colon will play against Hindu (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Adrian Boccia (195-1982) with 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and swingman Federico Gobetti (192-1999) scored 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Four Pico FC players scored in double figures.
