The most exciting game of round 25 in the LDB took place in Obera. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 9th ranked Obera (9-10) to eleventh ranked Racing Ch. (9-10) 81-79 in the game for the ninth place. Tomas Delia stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Francisco Gonzalez chipped in 14 points. At the losing side Colombian point guard Edwin Niebles (178-2005) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. Racing Ch. moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Gimnasia and Obera. Racing Ch. is looking forward to face league's second-placed La Union in Formosa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Obera will have a break next round.
Important game to mention about took place in Santa Fe. Eighteenth ranked Atenas (5-15) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Union (6-11) 83-80 on Friday evening. Naturalized Italian swingman Jeronimo Maidana (202-2004) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points, 20 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and German Misetich accounted for 20 points and 8 rebounds. Pablo Spies came up with 27 points and 6 assists for Union in the defeat. Union's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Atenas moved-up to seventeenth place. Union at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Atenas will play against higher ranked Argentino (#16) in Junin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Union will play at home against San Lorenzo and hopes to get back on the winning track.
19th ranked Olimpico (1-18) was outscored at home by twelfth ranked San Martin (7-10) with the biggest margin this round 89-68 on Sunday night. Mateo Rearte fired 17 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners. Jeremias Barco produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Olimpico's coach Jose Maria Gerez gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. San Martin have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain twelfth place with 7-10 record. Olimpico lost fourteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. San Martin will meet Quimsa (#15) in the next round. Olimpico will have a break next round.
There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 25: Argentino lost to Independ.O. on the opponent's court 66-76. Quimsa unfortunately lost to Regatas in a home game 69-80. Ferro managed to beat Gimnasia on the road 81-71.
