Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

There was a change at the La Liga Argentina leadership position after last games. Round 42 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Barrio Parque (15-7). They were edged by fifth ranked Salta Basket (14-9) 86-84 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Barrio Parque. Salta Basket made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Barrio Parque helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American Chance Hunter (198-1998, college: Cal Poly) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Wilfredo Alvarez chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Benjamin Herrera (190-1999) with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Salta Basket maintains fifth position with 14-9 record. Barrio Parque at the other side still keeps top place with seven games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Provincial who have the same record. Barrio Parque will play next round against Las Heras trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Salta Basket will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.

Point guard Juan Frontera (178-2002) notched 23 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Tomas Ligorria supported him with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Even 14 points and 7 rebounds by naturalized Italian guard Benjamin Marchiaro (194-2004) did not help to save the game for Las Heras. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caroya maintains ninth position with 11-11 record, which they share with Racing A. Las Heras lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth place with 17 games lost. Caroya will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Las Heras will play on the road against Barrio Parque (#3) in Cordoba and hopes to get back on the winning track.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 42: Lanus lost to Dep Viedma on the opponent's court 97-104. Colon unfortunately lost to Villa S.Martin in a home game 79-88. Comunicaciones recorded a loss to Independiente on the road 77-88. Pergamino was defeated by La Union on its own court 90-95. U.Mar del Plata was beaten by Pico FC in General Pico 88-71. Hindu won against Las Heras at home 85-72.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 21 points by Carlos Buemo of Hindu.



Dep Viedma - Lanus 104-97

There was a minor upset in Rio Negro where 7th ranked Lanus (12-10) was defeated by ninth ranked Dep Viedma (12-9) 104-97. Dep Viedma shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Lanus was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Luciano Caceres (180-2001) notched 32 points to lead the effort and Jeffrey Merchant (197-1997) supported him with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 29 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) by American center Roquez Johnson (201-1992, college: MSU, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Lanus. His fellow American import guard Robert Whitfield (190-1997, college: UMKC) added 17 points and 5 assists. Four Dep Viedma and five Lanus players scored in double figures. Dep Viedma have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place. Lanus at the other side dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Dep Viedma will play against higher ranked GELP (#3) in La Plata in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lanus will play on the road against Villa Mitre (#11) in Bahia Blanca and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Very predictable result in Santa Fe where eighth ranked Villa S.Martin (11-10) defeated 17th ranked Colon (5-15) 88-79. Villa S.Martin players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Colon's players. Venezuelan Elian Centeno (200-2000) notched a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and point guard Favio Vieta (188-1996) supported him with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Five Villa S.Martin players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 7 rebounds by guard Joaquin Fernandez (189-2003) did not help to save the game for Colon. Hans Feder added 22 points and 5 rebounds. Colon SF's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Villa S.Martin maintains eighth position with 11-10 record. Colon lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth place with 15 games lost. Villa S.Martin will play against higher ranked Santa Paula (#4) in Galvez in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Colon will have a break next round.
