An interesting game for La Union (20-6) which played road game in Corrientes against 4th placed Regatas (19-5). Third ranked La Union managed to get a 9-point victory 81-72. It was a good game for Augusto Moresco who led his team to a victory with 22 points. Franco Gimenez (190) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Viktor Bender (197-2006) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for Regatas. Regatas' coach Diego Checenelli rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. La Union maintains third place with 20-6 record having just eleven point less than leader Instituto. Regatas at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. La Union will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Regatas will play at home against Penarol (#15) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
LDB top team - Instituto (22-5) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixteenth ranked Boca Jrs (7-17) in Buenos Aires 71-46. Bautista Corsi stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and Jerson Caicedo chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Ivan Drocezesky with 20 points. Boca Jrs' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Instituto have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 22-5 record. Boca Jrs. at the other side keeps the sixteenth position with 17 games lost. Instituto will play against San Lorenzo (#8) in Almagra in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Boca Jrs. will play at home against Platense (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between San Lorenzo (12-13) and Quimsa (11-14), which took place in Almagra. Higher ranked San Lorenzo lost at home to twelfth ranked Quimsa 69-75 on Thursday. Lucio Mantovani nailed 34 points (!!!) for the winning side. Ivan Villarroel came up with 17 points for San Lorenzo in the defeat. San Lorenzo's coach Juan Veira tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Quimsa. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Gimnasia. San Lorenzo lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. Quimsa will meet Union (#13) in the next round. San Lorenzo will play against Ferro (#7) in Buenos Aires and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
There were no big surprises in other games of round 33: Obera was smashed by Obras on the road 99-67. Gimnasia won against Racing Ch. on its own court 76-67. Penarol managed to outperform San Martin in Mar del Plata 68-59.
The most impressive performance of 33th round was 22 points and 5 rebounds by Gonzalo Aman of Penarol.
