Regular Season Round 7: Rancagua - Puente Alto 19-73

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Rancagua (0-5) was crushed at home by third ranked Puente Alto (5-1) 73-19 on Sunday. Puente Alto held Rancagua to an opponent 7.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Puente Alto forced 32 Rancagua turnovers and outrebounded them 54-34 including a 22-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by Rancagua's players. Argentinian power forward Camila Peri (182-2000) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international forward Marisol Gamboa (178-1985) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Ariela Urrutia (-1998) produced 7 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Catalina Guaico (-1995) added 4 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Puente Alto. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Sergio Ceppi. Rancagua lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Larr Valdivia and Luis ML. Puente Alto's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Sergio Ceppi.
