Running Rebels - Western Ballaz 101-89 No shocking result in a game when third ranked Running Rebels (5-3) beat 6th ranked Western Ballaz (3-4) in Belize City 101-89. Running Rebels forced 20 Western Ballaz turnovers. Western Ballaz was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Tyrone Hall (190-1990, college: Queens, NY) stepped up and scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and American forward James Stanback (198, college: Camden County) chipped in 21 points. American swingman Mark Gordon (196, college: Keiser) responded with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and the other American import power forward Richard Smith III (206-1992, college: California, PA) scored 8 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Running Rebels. They maintain third place with 5-3 record behind leader Dream Ballers. Western Ballaz at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Hurricanes outscored guests from Punta Gorda 143-78. Hurricanes dominated down low during the game scoring 94 of its points in the paint compared to Panthers' 38 and had 28 for 45 from the free-throw line, while Panthers only scored seven points from the stripe. Hurricanes forced 25 Panthers turnovers and outrebounded them 53-39 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Panthers were plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Tyrie Orosco (196, college: Cent.Penn) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds for the winners and naturalized American power forward Jamell Harris (208-1991, college: EMU) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Five Hurricanes players scored in double figures. Point guard Tavian Davis (183-1998, college: Rogers St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals and Chance Leslie scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hurricanes maintains second place with 5-1 record behind leader Dream Ballers. Panthers lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Dream Ballers defeated 4th placed Defenders in Dangriga 77-72. They outrebounded Defenders 47-36 including 32 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dream Ballers made 7 blocks. The former international guard Edgar Mitchell (-1993) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 4 assists. Forward Jahiem Ciego contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Nigel Jones (201-1990, college: Talladega) answered with 23 points and 7 rebounds and forward Farron Louriano (198-1989) added 14 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Defenders. Four Defenders players scored in double figures. Defenders' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Dream Ballers (6-2) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Defenders lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion keep the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Tiger Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Red Taigaz's 44. They outrebounded Red Taigaz 56-41 including 23 on the offensive glass. Point guard Francis Arana (180-1997) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 7 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals for the winners and American swingman Kyle Steward (201-1995, college: UMKC) chipped in 23 points and 10 rebounds. Five Tiger Sharks players scored in double figures. American Jeremiah Toney (196-1998, college: Southwest, agency: One Motive Sports) responded with 29 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Ben Page (198, college: Concordia, TX) scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tiger Sharks moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Red Taigaz.
