The most exciting game of round 3 in the BEBL took place in Dangriga. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of Dream Ballers (3-2) to Tiger Sharks (5-0) 77-74 in the game for the first place. Tiger Sharks forced 24 Dream Ballers turnovers and outrebounded them 63-40 including a 41-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Dream Ballers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was point guard Francis Arana (180-1997) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Keon Rowland chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American Deshawn Brackett (178-2001) who recorded 33 points (!!!) and 4 steals. Tiger Sharks are looking forward to face Western Ballaz (#4) in San Ignacio in the next round. Dream Ballers will play at home against Panthers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of Thunderbolts (2-3) against City Kings (1-4) on Friday night. Visiting Thunderbolts were defeated by City Kings in 85-75. It was a good game for Brandon Flowers (196-1995) who led his team to a victory with 23 points. Julian Theissen contributed with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. City Kings' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international Tyrone Hall (190-1990, college: Queens, NY) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds for Thunderbolts. City Kings will play against Dream Ballers in Dangriga in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Thunderbolts will have a break next round.
Tiger Sharks delivered the fifth consecutive victory on Sunday night. This time they beat City Kings (1-4) 89-77 in San Pedro. It was a great evening for Brian White who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Micheal Johnson with 7 points and 17 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tiger Sharks will meet Western Ballaz (#4) in the next round. City Kings will play against Dream Ballers and hope to win that game.
In the last two games of round 3 Suns were defeated by Panthers in Punta Gorda 84-71. Panthers beat Suns at home 83-79.
