Libobasquet Round 4: Pichincha keeps a leadership position

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Pichincha as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Pichincha smashed bottom-ranked Amistad at home 91-58. They outrebounded Amistad 47-29 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Robert Colon (187-99, college: WSSU) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward TJ Robinson (203-89, college: LBSU) who added 16 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Cuban forward Freddy Marin (202-92) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Amistad at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost.
Undefeated CAN Potosi (3-1) recorded its first loss in Oruro. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Calero (1-2) 72-66. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of CAN Potosi. The winners were led by American guard Scheraun King (190-87, college: Albany St.) who scored that evening 29 points and 5 steals and Oliver Chavez supported him with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Even a double-double of 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international forward Cristhian Camargo (194-92) did not help to save the game for CAN Potosi. Calero maintains fourth position with 1-2 record. CAN Potosi at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. Calero will play against higher ranked Rubair (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. CAN Potosi will play against Rubair and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rubair - Amistad 105-93

Bottom-ranked Amistad (0-5) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to third ranked Rubair (3-2) 105-93 on Tuesday evening. Rubair dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Amistad's 44. They outrebounded Amistad 41-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Rubair looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American swingman Mike Liabo (198-91, college: UT Martin, agency: Interperformances) fired 26 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Serbian power forward Milos Petkovic (204-91, agency: Interperformances) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Liabo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Rubair players scored in double figures. Cuban forward Freddy Marin (202-92) produced 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American guard Terrell Grobes (198-93, college: WILMU) added 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rubair maintains third position with 3-2 record behind leader Pichincha.
