Libobasquet Round 2: Saracho lose to San Simon

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Libobasquet. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Saracho at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by San Simon 94-70. San Simon outrebounded Saracho 51-34 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Argentinian power forward Gianfranco Sinconi (204-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Akil McClain (188-1997, college: IU Kokomo) chipped in 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. San Simon's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian forward Facundo Sanz (197-1996, agency: BIG) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. San Simon is looking forward to face UNITEP in the next round where they are favorite. Saracho will play against Tenis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was between Leones and Pichincha where Leones beat Pichincha on the road 62-58. The former international point guard Ronald Arze (175-1993) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 5 rebounds. Thomas Cooper contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Ralfi Silva replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds for Pichincha. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Leones will play against Univ.Sucre at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pichincha will have a break next round.
Very important is a road loss of UNITEP against La Salle on Saturday night. Visiting UNITEP was defeated by La Salle in Tarija 91-75. Joaquin Gamazo scored 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Francisco Bonja responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. La Salle will meet Atomico in the next round. UNITEP will play against San Simon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 2 Atomico defeated Univ.Sucre in a road game 72-65.

Univ.Sucre - Atomico 65-72

But Univ.Sucre was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from 72-65 on Saturday night. Atomico dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Univ.Sucre's 30. Argentinian Rodrigo Acuna (198-1995) scored 31 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Argentinian guard Erbel De Pietro (185-1988) chipped in 21 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Argentinian guard Cesar Chaine (186) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and Jose Choque (-1990) scored 9 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Atomico will meet at home La Salle in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Univ.Sucre will play against Leones and hope to win that game.

La Salle - UNITEP 91-75

Very important is a road loss of UNITEP against La Salle on Saturday night. Visiting UNITEP was defeated by La Salle in Tarija 91-75. La Salle forced 26 UNITEP turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Argentinian Joaquin Gamazo (198-1991) scored 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Martin Ochoa chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four La Salle players scored in double figures. Argentinian Francisco Bonja responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and Argentinian Nicolas Rodriguez scored 27 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. La Salle will meet Atomico in the next round.
