The most interesting game of round 3 was a home defeat of Pichincha (2-2) by CAN Potosi (3-1) who outscored them by 15 points 71-56. CAN Potosi dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Pichincha's 20. They outrebounded Pichincha 46-24 including a 38-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Carlos Gonzales (-2002) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international forward Cristhian Camargo (194-1992) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Serbian power forward Milos Petkovic (204-1991) with 16 points and 6 rebounds. CAN Potosi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pichincha will play against Kinwa (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Important game to mention about took place in Potosi. Kinwa (4-0) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging Leones (2-2) 76-73 on Tuesday evening. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward CJ Aiken (206-1990, college: St.Joseph's, agency: BIG) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. Samuel Valverde accounted for 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Kinwa's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Uruguayan point guard Mauro Zubiaurre (189-1994) came up with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for Leones in the defeat. Kinwa will play against Pichincha (#5) at home in the next round. Leones will have a break next round.
