Leones dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to CAN Potosi's 26. They outrebounded CAN Potosi 49-37 including 36 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Uruguayan point guard Mauro Zubiaurre (189-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Argentinian power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (200-1988) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Gonzalo Romero (196-1997) produced 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks and Carlos Gonzales (-2002) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Four CAN Potosi players scored in double figures.

Univ.Sucre dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Pichincha's 34. Univ.Sucre players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists.
