Flamengo repeat as NBB Champions! - May 31, 2014

Flamengo - Paulistano 78-73

Flamengo overcame Paulistano in the NBB Final and clinched the trophy. It was the second straight title for the Rio de Janeiro powerhouse. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 40-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Flamengo forced 23 Paulistano turnovers. 33 personal fouls committed by Paulistano helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international Marcelo Magalhaes (201-75, agency: Interperformances) fired 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian point guard Nicolas Laprovittola (187-90) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Flamengo players scored in double figures. American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) produced 14 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Desmond Holloway (190-90, college: Co.Carolina) added 15 points (made all of his seven free throws) respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
