NBB Round 4: Fortaleza lose to Sao Paulo- November 6, 2021
It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in NBB, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Brasilia - Pinheiros 92-93 Bottom-ranked Brasilia (0-2) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-92 loss to tenth ranked Pinheiros (2-2) in Brasilia on Thursday evening. Pinheiros had a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Portuguese forward Rafael Munford (195-98, college: Augusta) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds and international center Dikembe Andre (206-99) who added 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side point guard Pedrinho Rava Wellausen (183-95) responded with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American-Filipino Zach Graham (198-89, college: Ole Miss) scored 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Pinheiros and four Brasilia players scored in double figures. Pinheiros moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Mogi and Sao Paulo. Loser Brasilia still closes the standings with two games lost. Pinheiros will meet at home Fortaleza (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brasilia will play against Paschoalotto/Bauru and looks forward to get finally their first victory. Hosts were defeated by eleventh ranked Sao Paulo (2-2) 81-68. The former international Bruno Caboclo (206-95) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) chipped in 16 points. Dominican guard Nehemias Morillo (197-92, college: S.Florida) produced 23 points and 7 rebounds and American Desmond Holloway (194-90, college: Coastal, agency: Interperformances) added 6 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Sao Paulo moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Pinheiros and Mogi. Fortaleza at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Sao Paulo is looking forward to face UNIFACISA (#13) in Paraiba in the next round where they are favorite. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American point guard Larry Taylor (183-80, college: MWSU) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 4 assists and the former international center Rafael Hettsheimeir (210-86) who added 25 points during the contest. They outrebounded Pato 42-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. Minas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international point guard Alexey Borges (185-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists and the former international guard Gui Pereira (192-91) who added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Argentinian Mateo Bolivar (187-92) responded with 15 points and point guard Augusto Leao (184-98) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Pato's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Minas have a solid four-game winning streak. Flamengo players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Mogi was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of international point guard Yago Matheus (173-99) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots). American Brandon Robinson (196-89, college: Clayton St.) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Five Flamengo players scored in double figures. Flamengo's coach Gustavo Conti felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Lucas Lacerda (180-97) replied with 20 points and 6 assists and center Thiago Mathias (208-89, college: N.Mexico JC) added 8 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Mogi. Flamengo (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Mogi at the other side dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. They share the position with Pinheiros and Sao Paulo.
