The game between Top Four teams took place in Sao Paulo. Leader host Pinheiros (8-0) smashed 4th placed UniFacisa (6-2) 89-48. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of UniFacisa. Pinheiros forced 25 UniFacisa turnovers. It was a great evening for naturalized Guinea-Bissau forward Yan Barbosa (204-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds. Ivan Neto (196-2002) helped adding 15 points. Guard Matheus Pinheiro (188-2001) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Pinheiros have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Paulistano. UniFacisa at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Pinheiros is looking forward to face Praia (#9) in Vitoria in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ABF Joinville has finally registered their first victory this season after seven consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Rio Claro (3-5) on the road game in Sao Paulo 73-63. It was an exceptional evening for forward Nick Silva (198-2001, college: Davis & Elkins) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 8 rebounds. Dilzon Guilherme accounted for 13 points and 6 assists. point guard Arthur Costa (185-2001) came up with 11 points and 8 rebounds for Rio Claro in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ABF Joinville (1-7) left bottom position moving up to twentieth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Rio Claro at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with five games lost. ABF Joinville will play against higher ranked Franca (#11) in Sao Paulo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rio Claro will play on the road against Vila Velha and hopes to get back on the winning track.
LDB U20 top team - Paulistano (8-0) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked Pato (6-2) in Sao Paulo 68-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pato. The best player for the winners was Vinicius Ferreira who scored 8 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Paulistano's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Gabriel Novaes produced 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Paulistano. They maintain first place with 8-0 record, which they share with Pinheiros. Loser Pato keeps the fifth position with two games lost.
