The biggest surprise of round 13 took place in Sao Paulo where guest Sesi/Franca (#1) beat lower ranked Corinthians (#2) by 7 points 80-73 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Corinthians. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The former international point guard Georginho de Paula (197-1996) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. American guard David Jackson (192-1982, college: Penn State) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Davaunta Thomas (196-1995, college: UAFS) produced 24 points and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sesi/Franca maintains first place with 10-3 record. Corinthians at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Sesi/Franca are looking forward to face Mogi (#4) in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round. Corinthians will play on the road against Bauru and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.

Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Dikembe Andre (206-1999) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Raffael Mencarini contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. Douglas Silva (202-1998) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds for Sao Jose. Mogi moved-up to fourth place. Sao Jose at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Pinheiros. Mogi will play against league's leader Sesi/Franca in Sao Paulo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sao Jose will have a break next round.
A very close game took place in Sao Paulo between Paulistano and Pinheiros. Fifth ranked Paulistano (9-5) got a very close home victory over 4th placed Pinheiros (8-6). Paulistano managed to escape with a 2-point win 107-105 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Pinheiros. Lucas Siewert stepped up and scored 31 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Paulistano's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side David Sloan responded with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Paulistano have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Loser Pinheiros dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Sao Jose. Paulistano will meet Rio Claro (#7) on the road in the next round. Pinheiros will play against Mandic Basket in Limeira and hope to secure a win.
In the last two games of round 13 Sorocabana was defeated by Rio Claro in a road game 78-61. Osasco was beaten by Mandic Basket at home 89-96.
