NBB Round 12 (Regular Season): Corinthians edge Mogi by three points

NBB is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 12 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 12 in the NBB took place in Mogi das Cruzes. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th ranked Mogi (8-3) to sixth ranked Corinthians (8-2) 70-67 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Mogi. The best player for the winners was American guard Elyjah Clark (191-1998, college: MSSU) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. The former international point guard Elio Corazza (195-1989, college: Miami Dade CC) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Mogi's coach Fernando Penna tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Corinthians have an impressive six-game winning streak. Leader Flamengo delivered the eleventh victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 17th ranked Rio Claro (2-9) 84-72 in Rio de Janeiro. Worth to mention a quality performance of Alexey Borges who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 7 assists. Flamengo's coach Sergio Hernandez used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Stan Scott with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Flamengo maintains first position with 11-1 record. Rio Claro lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighteenth place with nine games lost. Flamengo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
