LNB Round 4 (Regular Season): Espanol keeps a leadership position

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LNB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Espanol as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Espanol defeated bottom-ranked Puerto Montt in Osorno 85-70. Espanol forced 23 Puerto Montt turnovers. American forward JaHeim Hudson (201-2001, college: Auburn) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Jahsean Corbett (198-2002, college: Duquesne, agency: Helping Ballers) chipped in 25 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Saquan Singleton (198-1998, college: GMU, agency: WP Sports Agency) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Puerto Montt's coach Gaston Fernandez rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Espanol have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Valdivia. Puerto Montt at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Undefeated Puerto Varas (2-1) recorded its first loss on the court of fifth ranked Ancud. Visitors were defeated by Ancud 90-84. Worth to mention a great performance of Colombian forward Leyder Moreno (195-2000) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Franco Ordenes contributed with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Marcelo Perez (196-1999, college: Southern Miss) replied with 26 points and 6 rebounds for Puerto Varas. Puerto Varas' coach Damian Gamarra tested eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Ancud (2-2) moved-up to fourth place. Puerto Varas at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with Univ.Catolica. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Las Animas (1-2) against sixth ranked Castro (1-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Las Animas were defeated by Castro in Castro 87-76. Worth to mention a great performance of GianFranco Grafals who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. At the losing side Fabian Martinez responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Las Animas' coach Carlos Zuniga let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Castro left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with Colo Colo. Loser Las Animas dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Rest of the games of round 4 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Univ.Catolica lost to undefeated Univ.Concepcion in a road game 83-104. Castro was beaten by Puerto Varas at home 69-77. Las Animas lost to Ancud on the opponent's court 88-96.
The best stats of 4th round was 30 points by Sebastian Suarez of Las Animas.



Castro - Las Animas 87-76:
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Las Animas (1-2) against sixth ranked Castro (1-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Las Animas were defeated by Castro in Castro 87-76. Five Las Animas players scored in double figures. Las Animas' coach Carlos Zuniga let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Univ.Concepcion - Univ.Catolica 104-83:
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when their biggest opponent Univ.Catolica (2-1) was crushed on the road by top-ranked Univ.Concepcion (2-0) 104-83 on Sunday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Univ.Concepcion made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Univ.Concepcion outrebounded Univ.Catolica 44-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Stephen Maxwell (201-1993, college: CSUN) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 7 rebounds and ex-international Kevin Rubio (192-2000) who added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest.
