LNB Round 2 (Second Stage): Ancud is upset by Puerto Montt

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in LNB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round took place in Ancud between Ancud and Puerto Montt on Thursday night. Ancud was defeated by Puerto Montt at home 94-83. Puerto Montt outrebounded Ancud 49-32 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Puerto Montt looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Kai Mitchell-Watkins (201-1997, college: SHSU) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import guard Saquan Singleton (198-1998, college: GMU, agency: WP Sports Agency) chipped in 20 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Puerto Montt's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Stan Scott (193-1998, college: MSSU) produced 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Puerto Montt are looking forward to face Univ.Concepcion on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Ancud will play against Puerto Varas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game was played in Concepcion. Univ.Concepcion faced Puerto Varas. Host Univ.Concepcion smashed guests from Puerto Varas 96-76. Guard Francisco Saravia (175-2008) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Sebastian Pereira contributed with 22 points for the winners. American-Puerto Rican forward Jonathan Ocasio (196-1992, college: New Haven) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for Puerto Varas. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Univ.Concepcion will play against Puerto Montt at home in the next round. Puerto Varas will play against Ancud and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Colo Colo was defeated by Las Animas in Valdivia 80-75. Castro beat Espanol at home 86-78. Bottom-ranked Espanol lost to Las Animas on the opponent's court 77-81. Castro managed to outperform Colo Colo in a home game 92-82.
The best stats of 2nd round was 31 points and 10 rebounds by Marcell McCreary of Castro.



Las Animas - Colo Colo 80-75:
There was no surprise in Valdivia where Colo Colo was defeated by Las Animas 80-75. The former international Sebastian Suarez (193-1991, college: Portland St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). International Fabian Martinez (194-2000) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American Devante Wallace (196-1992, college: High Point, agency: BIG) replied with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and Argentinian center Julian Lorca (207-2003) added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Colo Colo. Four Colo Colo players scored in double figures. Colo Colo's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Las Animas will play against Univ.Catolica in Santiago in the next round. Colo Colo will have a break next round.

No shocking result in a game when Castro defeated at home Espanol 86-78. The other American import forward Nick Farrar (201-2002, college: Guilford) contributed with 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Castro's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Taevon Lewis (198-2003) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and forward Aseem Luckey (206-2001, college: Williams Baptist) added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks in the effort for Espanol. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Castro will play against Univ.Catolica in Santiago in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Espanol will have a break next round.

Rather expected game in Valdivia where Espanol was defeated by Las Animas 81-77. The former international Sebastian Suarez (193-1991, college: Portland St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Argentinian point guard Enzo Amado (183-1995) contributed with 18 points and 4 steals for the winners. American guard Taevon Lewis (198-2003) replied with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Aseem Luckey (206-2001, college: Williams Baptist) added 11 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Espanol.
