Lorca's double-double lands him (Second Stage) Player of the Week award

23-year old Argentinian center Julian Lorca (207-C-2003) had an amazing evening in the last round for Colo Colo Santiago (they play in Places 9-13) and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6 (Second Stage).
He had a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds, while his team was edged out by Castro (#11, 5-10) 91-89. Each game in Second Stage is important. but the teams lost the distance to top of the standings. Colo Colo maintains the 12th position in Chilean league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 12 games and recorded just four victories. Lorca turned to be Colo Colo's top player in his first season with the team. Lorca has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 8.7rpg) and averages solid 1.8bpg and 56.3% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Shaquil Bender (188-G-2001) of CD Universidad Catolica de Santiago. He is American guard in his first season at Univ.Catolica. In the last game Bender recorded an impressive 28 points and 8 rebounds. Of course Univ.Catolica cruised to a 76-68 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Las Animas (#10, 6-9). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Univ.Catolica managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 9th place in Places 9-13. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 7-9 record. Bender is a newcomer at Univ.Catolica and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Aseem Luckey (206-F-2001) of Club Deportes Espanol de Talca (#13). Luckey scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He was a key player of Espanol, leading his team to a 85-82 win against slightly higher-ranked Castro (#11, 5-10). Espanol can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-12 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Luckey has individually a great season in Chile. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.9ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 10.7rpg (3rd best). He also has 1.3bpg and a FGP of 55.7%.
