The teams have now bigger motivation at this stage of Regular Season. Every game can be crucial and decide about teams' position at the end of Regular Season. There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 17 in the Liga Nacional took place in Santiago. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of their close opponent Universidad Catolica (12-11) to second ranked Deportivo Valdivia (11-9) 78-76 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Universidad Catolica. Argentinian center Ignacio Alessio (203-87) stepped up and scored 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Argentinian point guard Nicolas Ferreyra (185-85) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (196-89, college: WKU, agency: HMS) responded with 29 points and 5 rebounds. Deportivo Valdivia have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 11-9 record having seven points less than leader Las Animas which they share with defeated Universidad Catolica. Universidad Catolica at the other side keeps the second position with 11 games lost. Deportivo Valdivia are looking forward to face league's leader Puente Alto at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. CD Castro recorded a loss to Puente Alto on the road 72-87. Quilicura was defeated by AB Ancud on its own court 78-85. Temuco was beaten by Las Animas in Valdivia 87-79. Puerto Montt lost to CDU Concepcion at home 76-83. CD Castro outscored Quilicura on the opponent's court 87-68. Puente Alto rolled over AB Ancud in a home game 108-69. Temuco was defeated by Puerto Montt on the road 89-83. Las Animas beat CDU Concepcion on its own court 79-75. CD Puerto Varas lost to CDU Catolica in Santiago 83-90.



Puente Alto - Los Leones 104-94

Rather expected game when 4th placed Los Leones (11-12) were defeated on the road by first ranked Puente Alto (16-6) 104-94 on Wednesday. Puente Alto looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Argentinian forward Nicholas Wadell (201-89) stepped up and scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American-Nigerien swingman Tanksley Efianayi (198-94, college: UCF) chipped in 30 points and 6 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Four Puente Alto players scored in double figures. Italian-Argentinian center Omar Canton (206-82) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American forward Darnell Dodson (201-89, college: S.Mississippi) scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Puente Alto. They maintain first place with 16-6 record. Loser Los Leones dropped to the third position with 12 games lost.
