LNB 2 Round 9: Manquehue beat Stadio Italiano in a derby game

Manquehue maintains second place with 8-1 record having five points less than leader Sportiva Italiana. Stadio Italiano at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Manquehue's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Boston College.

It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Boston College. It was a good game for the former international center Javier Barra (211-97) who led his team to a victory with 8 points and 19 rebounds. Matias Lubiano contributed with 10 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Felix Ibarra (187-93) answered with 11 points and 7 rebounds for Boston College. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Sportiva Italiana have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-0 record. Boston College at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Sportiva Italiana will play against Truenos (#3) in Talca in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Boston College's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Manquehue.

The best for the losing side was Rodolfo Ordonez with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Liceo Curico maintains seventh place with 4-7 record. Brisas lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. They share it with Arturo Prat. Liceo Curico will meet higher ranked Stadio Italiano (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Brisas will play against Arabe de Valp. (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 9 Truenos defeated Arturo Prat in Talca 74-61.



Liceo Curico - Brisas 85-47

Venezuelan center Sergio Mijares (-97) stepped up and scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Mauricio Rebolledo (-94) chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds. There was no surprise in San Felipe where 9th ranked Arturo Prat (1-10) was defeated by sixth ranked Truenos (6-3) 74-61 on Sunday. Truenos outrebounded Arturo Prat 56-44 including 22 on the offensive glass. Guard Francisco Rojas (190-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and forward Nick Morales (187-85) chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds. Four Truenos players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Jean Guzman (-0) with 11 points and guard Adrian Toro (176-89) scored 5 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Arturo Prat's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Truenos. They moved-up to third place. Arturo Prat lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with Brisas. Truenos will meet at home league's leader Sportiva Italiana in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Arturo Prat will play against Tinguiririca SF (#6) in San Fernando and hope to win that game.
