LNB 2 Round 13: Sportiva Italiana beat Stadio Italiano in the most crucial game of the week

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Valparaiso. Leader Sportiva Italiana faced 4th placed Stadio Italiano. Host Sportiva Italiana (15-0) smashed guests from Santiago (9-6) 88-49. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Stadio Italiano. Sportiva Italiana forced 23 Stadio Italiano turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Matias Lubiano (-99) fired 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Gaspar Hernandez (-99) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Venezuelan point guard Joseph Campos (175-96, college: West LA) produced 7 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Sportiva Italiana have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 15-0 record. Stadio Italiano at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Sportiva Italiana are looking forward to face league's second-placed Manquehue in Santiago in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Stadio Italiano will play at home against Truenos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Valparaiso was also worth to mention about. Seventh ranked Liceo Curico (6-10) played at the court of 8th ranked Arabe de Valp. (3-10). Liceo Curico defeated Arabe de Valp. 84-73. Worth to mention a great performance of Venezuelan center Sergio Mijares (-97) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Francisco Garrido contributed with 11 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Alejandro Guevara (-0) answered with 27 points and 5 rebounds for Arabe de Valp.Liceo Curico maintains seventh place with 6-10 record. Arabe de Valp. lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with ten games lost. Liceo Curico will play against bottom-ranked Arturo Prat (#10) in San Felipe in the next round. Arabe de Valp. will play at home against Boston College and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in San Fernando was also quite interesting. Third ranked Boston College (10-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Tinguiririca SF (7-6). Boston College managed to secure a 6-point victory 84-78 on Sunday. Felix Ibarra stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. At the losing side Julius Holt responded with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Boston College. They maintain third place with 10-4 record having six points less than leader Sportiva Italiana. Loser Tinguiririca SF keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Boston College will meet Arabe de Valp. (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Tinguiririca SF will play against Brisas in Santiago and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 13 Brisas was defeated by Truenos in Talca 84-71. Bottom-ranked Arturo Prat were smashed by Manquehue at home 70-92.



Arabe de Valp. - Liceo Curico 73-84

Alejandro Guevara (-0) answered with 27 points and 5 rebounds and the former international center Patricio Briones (212-72, college: Miami Dade CC) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Arabe de Valp.Liceo Curico maintains seventh place with 6-10 record. Arabe de Valp. lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with ten games lost. Liceo Curico will play against bottom-ranked Arturo Prat (#10) in San Felipe in the next round. Truenos - Brisas 84-71

There was no surprise in Talca where 9th ranked Brisas (2-13) were defeated by fifth ranked Truenos (8-5) 84-71 on Sunday. Forward Nick Morales (187-85) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Alessandro Morales (-98) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Truenos players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Lee Roy Sepulveda (196-87) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and forward Ignacio Riquelme (183-88) scored 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Brisas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Truenos maintains fifth place with 8-5 record. Loser Brisas keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. Truenos will meet higher ranked Stadio Italiano (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Brisas will play against Tinguiririca SF (#6) and hope to secure a win.

No shocking result in a game in San Felipe where second ranked Manquehue (11-3) smashed bottom-ranked Arturo Prat (1-15) 92-70 on Sunday. Manquehue looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Arturo Prat's players. The former international forward Jorge Schuler (199-87) stepped up and scored 18 points and 5 assists for the winners and forward Juan Peters (-93) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Manquehue players scored in double figures. Manquehue's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side center Elias Donoso (-86) responded with 28 points and 8 rebounds and Jose Toro produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Manquehue maintains second place with 11-3 record having five points less than leader Sportiva Italiana. Arturo Prat lost their eleventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Manquehue will meet at home league's leader Sportiva Italiana in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Arturo Prat will play against Liceo Curico (#7) and hope to win that game.
