LNB Round 25: Puerto Varas lose to Universidad de Concepcion in the game between Top 4 teams- April 25, 2022

Puerto Varas - UdeC 79-96 The game between Top Four teams took place in Puerto Varas. 3rd placed host Puerto Varas (16-7) lost to first ranked Universidad de Concepcion (17-4) 96-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Puerto Varas. Universidad de Concepcion forced 19 Puerto Varas turnovers. American center Arnold Louis (201-1990, college: SSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and international point guard Sebastian Carrasco (180-2000) chipped in 23 points and 9 assists. Four Universidad de Concepcion players scored in double figures. At the losing side Panamanian forward Pablo Rivas (198-1994, college: NCCU) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Panamanian Gil Atencio (202-1996, college: St.Clair) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-4 record. Puerto Varas at the other side keep the third position with seven games lost. Universidad de Concepcion will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Puerto Varas will play on the road against Las Animas in Valdivia and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident. Las Animas dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Espanol de Talca's 30. American Daniel Dingle (202-1994, college: Temple) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import center Travion Leonard (205-1993, college: Barry, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 25 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!). Dingle is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Las Animas players scored in double figures. American forward TJ Robinson (203-1989, college: LBSU) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds and Venezuelan center Sergio Mijares (-1997) added 7 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Espanol de Talca in the defeat. Espanol de Talca's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Las Animas maintains seventh place with 12-10 record. Espanol de Talca lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 19 games lost. Las Animas will play against higher ranked Puerto Varas (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Espanol de Talca will play against Temuco (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Los Leones have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Temuco lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. Los Leones will play against Ancud (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Temuco will play against Espanol de Talca (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Argentinian-American guard Romeao Ferguson (196-1997, college: Lipscomb) nailed 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and guard Felix Ibarra (187-1993) accounted for 16 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). Four Castro players scored in double figures. Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) came up with 10 points and 8 rebounds and Argentinian forward Lucas Diaz (198-1992) added 15 points respectively for Universidad Catolica in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Castro maintains sixth place with 12-8 record. Universidad Catolica at the other side keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Castro will play against higher ranked Puente Alto (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Universidad Catolica will play against Deportivo Valdivia (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
