LNB 2 Round 3: Liceo Curico hand first loss to Municipal C.

There were just three rounds played in Regular Season of LNB 2 and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Municipal C. (0-1) on the court of Liceo Curico on Tuesday night. Visitors were edged by Liceo Curico 77-76. 24 personal fouls committed by Municipal C. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for forward Juan Carrasco (-98) who saved his team from a defeat with 26 points and 5 rebounds. Center Sergio Chialva (-94) contributed with 9 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Forward Diego Fuentes (-1993) answered with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for Municipal C.Municipal C.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Liceo Curico are looking forward to face Osorno (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Municipal C. will play against Aleman in Puerto Varas and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Very important is a road loss of Luis Matte (3-1) against Boston College (2-2) on Saturday night. Visiting Luis Matte was crushed by Boston College in Santiago 74-44. It was a great evening for forward Rodrigo Rojas (-1997) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 7 rebounds. Heder Louis helped adding 9 points and 15 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Ronald Reyes (-1999) with 10 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Boston College will play against Arabe de Valp. (#7) in Valparaiso in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Luis Matte will play at home against Sportiva Italiana (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of Liceo PN (3-1) against Espanol O. (2-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Liceo PN was defeated by Espanol O. in a tough game on the road 74-83. It was an exceptional evening for Franco Barroso who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Felipe Acuna came up with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for Liceo PN in the defeat. Espanol O. will meet Tomas L. (#14) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Liceo PN will play against Truenos (#6) and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 3: Aleman lost to undefeated Truenos on the road 73-78. Winless Stadio Italiano lost to undefeated Manquehue on its own court 79-85. Arabe de Valp. managed to outperform Brisas in Valparaiso 70-59. Sportiva Italiana rolled over Sergio Ceppi at home 81-60.

There was a small surprise when Truenos (2-0) beat Aleman (2-2) in Talca 78-73 on Saturday. Truenos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for forward Nick Morales (187-1985) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Alessandro Morales (-1998) accounted for 15 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. Five Truenos players scored in double figures. Center Marko Castro (192-88) came up with 9 points and 13 rebounds and forward Jonathan Alvial (188-1988) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Aleman in the defeat. Aleman's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Truenos will meet Liceo PN (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aleman will play against Municipal C. (#12) and hope to secure a win.

It was an exceptional evening for the former international Fernando Schuler (190-1991) who led the winners and scored 16 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international forward Jorge Schuler (199-1987) accounted for 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Cristian Urrutia (-1999) came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds and Gabriel Soto (-2002) added 17 points respectively for Stadio Italiano in the defeat.
