LNB 2 Round 15: No surprise as #1 Liceo PN defeat Liceo Curico

LNB 2 top team - Liceo PN (13-2) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat eleventh ranked Liceo Curico (4-10) 73-59. Liceo PN have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-2 record. Liceo Curico lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Stadio Italiano and Tomas L..
The game in Talca was also worth to mention about. 4th placed Osorno (9-5) played at the court of eighth ranked Truenos (9-5). Truenos defeated Osorno 96-81. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Osorno. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Ricardo Gomez (176-1993) who led the winners and scored 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Nick Morales accounted for 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. American center Travion Leonard (205-1993, college: Barry, agency: Interperformances) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for Osorno in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Truenos moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Osorno.

The best player for the winners was Leonel Rodriguez who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Jonathan Alvial who recorded 22 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tomas L. moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Stadio Italiano and Liceo Curico. Aleman at the other side keeps the tenth position with ten games lost.

In the last two games of round 15 Espanol O. destroyed Municipal C. on the opponent's court 120-44. Sportiva Italiana managed to outperform Stadio Italiano in a home game 68-63.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 24 points and 6 rebounds by Cristobal Rios of Sportiva Italiana.

Truenos - Osorno 96-81

Truenos players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Ricardo Gomez (176-1993) who led the winners and scored 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Forward Nick Morales (187-1985) accounted for 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Five Truenos players scored in double figures. Very expected game when 16th ranked Municipal C. (1-13) was crushed at home by second ranked Espanol O. (12-2) 120-44 on Sunday. Espanol O. dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Municipal C.'s 28 and made 33-of-40 free shots (82.5 percent) during the game, while Municipal C. only scored four points from the stripe. Espanol O. forced 27 Municipal C. turnovers and outrebounded them 44-29 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Espanol O. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by Municipal C.'s players. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Franco Morales (179-1992) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Hector Gomez (188-1987) chipped in 29 points and 8 rebounds. Four Espanol O. players scored in double figures. Very predictable result in Valparaiso where third ranked Sportiva Italiana (11-1) defeated 12th ranked Stadio Italiano (4-10) 68-63 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The best player for the winners was guard Cristobal Rios (-1994) who scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Rodrigo Rojas (-1999) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Sportiva Italiana's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Francisco Pena (187-1989) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and Gabriel Soto (-2002) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively.
