LNB 2 Round 15: No surprise as #1 Liceo PN defeat Liceo Curico- August 1, 2022

Liceo Curico - Liceo PN 59-73 LNB 2 top team - Liceo PN (13-2) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat eleventh ranked Liceo Curico (4-10) 73-59. Liceo PN have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-2 record. Liceo Curico lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Stadio Italiano and Tomas L.. Truenos - Osorno 96-81 The game in Talca was also worth to mention about. 4th placed Osorno (9-5) played at the court of eighth ranked Truenos (9-5). Truenos defeated Osorno 96-81. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Osorno. Truenos made 26-of-32 charity shots (81.3 percent) during the game, while Osorno only scored ten points from the stripe. Truenos players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Ricardo Gomez (176-1993) who led the winners and scored 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Forward Nick Morales (187-1985) accounted for 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Five Truenos players scored in double figures. American center Travion Leonard (205-1993, college: Barry, agency: Interperformances) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and the former international center Carlos Aranda (200-1992) added 23 points respectively for Osorno in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Truenos moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Osorno. (4-10) 83-63 on Sunday. Tomas L. outrebounded Aleman 45-26 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Argentinian center Leonel Rodriguez (205-1993) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Joaquin Contreras (-2003) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Jonathan Alvial (188-1988) who recorded 22 points and Jose Campos (-2002) added 10 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tomas L. moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Stadio Italiano and Liceo Curico. Aleman at the other side keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. (1-13) was crushed at home by second ranked Espanol O. (12-2) 120-44 on Sunday. Espanol O. dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Municipal C.'s 28 and made 33-of-40 free shots (82.5 percent) during the game, while Municipal C. only scored four points from the stripe. Espanol O. forced 27 Municipal C. turnovers and outrebounded them 44-29 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Espanol O. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by Municipal C.'s players. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Franco Morales (179-1992) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Hector Gomez (188-1987) chipped in 29 points and 8 rebounds. Four Espanol O. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian Andres Martinez (-1987) who recorded 6 points and 7 rebounds and Javier Munoz (-1995) added 11 points and 4 steals respectively. The best player for the winners was guard Cristobal Rios (-1994) who scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Rodrigo Rojas (-1999) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Sportiva Italiana's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Francisco Pena (187-1989) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and Gabriel Soto (-2002) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Sportiva Italiana. They maintain third place with 11-1 record having five points less than leader Liceo PN.
