Stephen Maxwell claims Chilean LNB weekly honour- May 1, 2023
The 29-year old forward had a double-double of 43 points and ten rebounds, while his team outclassed Catolica (#12, 8-19) with 27-point margin 105-78. Thanks to this victory Ancud moved-up to the 4th position in Chilean LNB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Ancud will need more victories to improve their 17-7 record. Maxwell turned to be Ancud's top player in his first season with the team. California State University Northridge graduate has very impressive stats this year. Maxwell is league's best scorer averaging so far 25.6ppg. Maxwell is in league's top in and averages solid 64.4% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Ecuadorian center Bryan Carabali (212-C-1999) of Castro. Carabali impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 26 points and 14 rebounds. Of course he led Castro to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Catolica (#12, 8-19) 91-65. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Castro dropped in the standings to 9th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 13-12 record is not bad and everything may still change. Carabali is a newcomer at Castro and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. The third best performed player last round was Felipe Gonzalez Flores (180-G-1994) of Tinguiririca (#14). Gonzalez Flores got into 30-points club by scoring 33 points in the last round. He went also for eight assists. Despite Gonzalez Flores' great performance Tinguiririca lost 114-117 to the higher-ranked Quilicura (#8, 13-11). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Tinguiririca can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-22 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Gonzalez Flores has a very solid season. In 22 games in Chile he scored 7.0ppg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Pablo Coro (190-G-1990) of Quilicura - 40 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Cristian Amicucci (200-F/C-1985) of Las Animas - 28 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Gianncarlo Caraboni (F) of Tinguiririca - 38 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists 7. Facundo Fernandez) of Quilicura - 29 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists 10. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
