LNB Round 29: No surprise as #1 Concepcion defeat Puerto Montt- May 7, 2023
The round 29 was rather boring as all games ended with very predictable results. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Catolica - Valdivia 87-92 Very expected game in Santiago where 12th ranked Catolica (8-20) was defeated by sixth ranked Valdivia (18-10) 92-87. Valdivia players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American center Roquez Johnson (201-1992, college: MSU, agency: BIG) nailed a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds for the winning side and Argentinian point guard Nicolas Ferreyra (181-1985) accounted for 25 points and 5 assists. American power forward Andre Pierce (207-1995, college: Lee JC, agency: BIG) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and forward Vicente Damianovic (-1997) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Catolica in the defeat. Five Catolica players scored in double figures. Valdivia have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Catolica lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 20 games lost. (4-20) 90-64. Castro made 25-of-29 charity shots (86.2 percent) during the game, while Espanol T. only scored seven points from the stripe. Castro forced 22 Espanol T. turnovers. Espanol T. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Gabriel Diaz (-1999) nailed 24 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winning side and Vicente Guaico (-1994) accounted for 16 points and 4 assists. Five Castro players scored in double figures. Point guard Ricardo Gomez (176-1993) came up with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Argentinian forward Lucas Cabanas added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Espanol T. in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Castro maintains eighth place with 15-12 record. Espanol T. lost fifteenth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 20 games lost. Fourth ranked Puente Alto (18-8) played at the court of 5th ranked Las Animas (17-11). Puente Alto managed to secure a 9-point victory 75-66. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Las Animas. Puente Alto players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American forward Dennis McKinney (194-1998, college: Mt.Mercy, agency: GoEmpire Group) nailed a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Marquez Letcher-Ellis (203-1997, college: Nevada) accounted for 16 points and 15 rebounds. Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) came up with 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American forward Shawn Glover (201-1990, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Las Animas in the defeat. Puente Alto maintains fourth place with 18-8 record. Las Animas at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. Ancud dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Tinguiririca's 34. Tinguiririca was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Stephen Maxwell (201-1993, college: CSUN) nailed a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Argentinian point guard Rodrigo Gallegos (186-1991) accounted for 18 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). The former international forward Gianncarlo Caraboni came up with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Felipe Gonzalez Flores (180-1994) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Tinguiririca in the defeat. Four Tinguiririca players scored in double figures. Tinguiririca's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ancud maintains third place with 19-7 record having eight points less than leader Concepcion. Tinguiririca lost twelfth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 24 games lost. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Puerto Montt (9-19) 115-70. Concepcion forced 19 Puerto Montt turnovers and outrebounded them 53-41 including a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Jerry Evans (203-1990, college: Nevada) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Miles Bowman Jr (198-1993, college: High Point) chipped in 7 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Josh Morris (203-1993, college: UTPB) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and the former international center Carlos Aranda (200) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Concepcion have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 25-3 record. Puerto Montt at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 19 games lost. They outrebounded Espanol O. 47-30 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Chris Perry (203-1994, college: LMU) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import center Dishon Lowery (200-1998, college: OKBU) accounted for 16 points and 12 rebounds. Four Quilicura players scored in double figures. Point guard Hector Gomez (188-1987) came up with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Cristobal Martinez (-2004) added 11 points respectively for Espanol O. in the defeat.
