Arabe de Valp. - Stadio Italiano 79-72 The most important game in the last round took place in Valparaiso between third ranked Stadio Italiano (4-5) and fifth ranked Arabe de Valp. (4-4) on Saturday night. Stadio Italiano was defeated by Arabe de Valp. in a tough game on the road 72-79. Arabe de Valp. outrebounded Stadio Italiano 53-40 including 16 on the offensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Stadio Italiano helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Nicolas Vargas (-2001) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Pedro Soares chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Vicente Schulz (-2002) produced 23 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and guard Cesar Belmar (-2002) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. This time they crushed 6th ranked Aleman (2-7) 127-35 in Puerto Varas. Liceo PN held Aleman to an opponent 22.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 63.8 percent accuracy of the winners and had 32 for 48 from the free-throw line, while Aleman only scored 0 point from the stripe. Liceo PN forced 23 Aleman turnovers and outrebounded them 56-21 including a 46-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Aleman's players. Aleman was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Franco Morales (181-1992) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 17 rebounds and 9 assists. Michael Ernst (187-1982) contributed with 29 points and 4 steals (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Liceo PN players scored in double figures. Forward Rafael Chaparro (-2002) replied with 12 points and center Sebastian Pereira (203-2005) added 6 points in the effort for Aleman. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Liceo PN (9-0) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Aleman lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. Liceo PN will play against Liceo Curico (#5) at home in the next round. Aleman will play against Truenos in Talca and hopes to get back on the winning track.
