LNF Round 15: Leones are upset by New Crusaders

The Regular Season in LNF just ended. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game between second ranked Leones (5-2) and fourth ranked New Crusaders (5-4) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Leones were defeated by New Crusaders in a tough game in San Pablo 71-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Leones. New Crusaders have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Temuco. Leones at the other side keep the second position with two games lost.
Undefeated leader CDSC delivered the twelfth consecutive victory. This time they crushed 6th ranked Tomas L (3-10) 138-21. It was a good game for the former international point guard Javiera Novion (170-1987, college: Eckerd) who led her team to a victory with 25 points and 6 assists. Catalina Abuyeres contributed with 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. CDSC's coach Julia Acevedo felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Patricia Briones (-2004) answered with 4 points and 9 rebounds for Tomas L. Undefeated CDSC (12-0) have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 12 victories in a row. Tomas L lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost.
Bottom-ranked Llolleo (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 74-61 loss to fifth ranked Quilpue (2-6) in on Sunday evening. It was a great evening for Jessica Zarate who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. Quilpue's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Barbara Rodriguez with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Quilpue maintains fifth place with 2-6 record. Llolleo lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with Larr Valdivia.

In the last game of round 15 Luis ML defeated Rancagua in Santiago 57-49.
The best stats of 15th round was 9 points and 19 rebounds by Ariela Urrutia of Rancagua.

CDSC - Tomas L 138-21

Undefeated leader CDSC delivered the twelfth consecutive victory. This time they crushed 6th ranked Tomas L (3-10) 138-21. CDSC held Tomas L to an opponent 19.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 49.5 percent accuracy of the winners and made 25-of-33 charity shots (75.8 percent) during the game, while Tomas L only scored 0 point from the stripe. CDSC forced 55 Tomas L turnovers and outrebounded them 54-31 including a 25-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 40 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Tomas L's players. Bottom-ranked Llolleo (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 74-61 loss to fifth ranked Quilpue (2-6) in on Sunday evening. They also forced 22 Llolleo turnovers and outrebounded them 66-49 including 20 on the offensive glass. Rancagua - Luis ML 49-57

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Rancagua's (0-11) home loss to seventh ranked Luis ML (3-8) 49-57 on Monday. Strangely Rancagua outrebounded Luis ML 50-32 including 35 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Ignacia Cardenas (-2002) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points. Center Maria Marinakis (-1997) helped adding 10 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Ariela Urrutia (-1998) with 9 points and 19 rebounds and point guard Catalina Guaico (-1995) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Luis ML moved-up to sixth place. Rancagua lost their eleventh game in a row. They still close the standings with 11 games lost.
