Round in LNF means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Temuco where host Frontera (9-1) edged league's leader Univ.Concepcion (8-1) 62-61 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Univ.Concepcion. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The best player for the winners was the former international Josefina Viafora (185-1999) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Daniela Troncoso (178-1987) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international forward Barbara Cousino (178-1996) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Frontera have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Univ.Concepcion at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by CDSC.
Top ranked Gimnastico (8-2) recorded its second loss in Valparaiso. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Sportiva Ita. (6-2) 79-63. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Gimnastico. The former international forward Catalina Perez (195-1997) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Josefina Cortes contributed with 18 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Fernanda Ovalle (178-2003, college: Xavier) answered with 21 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for Gimnastico. Gimnastico's coach rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Sportiva Ita.. Defending champion maintains third place with 6-2 record having 2 victories less than leader CDSC. Gimnastico at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Paillaco. Leader Alemana P. faced 3rd placed Espanol. Host Alemana P. (11-0) smashed guests from (5-4) 85-43. Tatiana Gomez stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Anahi Albornoz responded with 5 points and 10 rebounds. Espanol's coach David Sequera gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Alemana P.. They maintain first place with 11-0 record. Loser Espanol keeps the third position with four games lost.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Paillaco. Leader Alemana P. faced 3rd placed Espanol. Host Alemana P. (11-0) smashed guests from (5-4) 85-43. There was no surprise when 7th ranked Larr Valdivia (1-9) was crushed at home by second ranked Puerto Montt (8-3) 86-56 on Sunday. Puerto Montt dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Larr Valdivia's 38. Puerto Montt forced 28 Larr Valdivia turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Larr Valdivia's players. Center Catalina Azocar (-1997) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and center Analia Mendez (180-2004) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Osorno (5-6) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Univ. Austral (5-5) 57-51 on Sunday. Nicoll Ojeda (-1993) stepped up and scored 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and guard Paula Ortiz (-2003) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Univ. Austral's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian Jacqueline Soto responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and Javiera Rosas (-2001) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Univ. Austral moved-up to fourth place, which they share with New Crusaders and Temuco. Loser Osorno dropped to the fifth position with six games lost.
