The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Concepcion as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Concepcion edged 4th placed Puente Alto at home 87-84. Concepcion looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Lino Saez (207-2000) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds. Nicolas Aguirre (-1998) contributed with 13 points and 5 assists for the winners. Argentinian forward Martin Chervo (200) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for Puente Alto. Concepcion (7-1) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Ancud. Puente Alto at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Catolica. Puente Alto will play next round against Liceo PN trying to get back on the winning streak. Concepcion will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Los Leones in Quilpue.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Tinguiririca (5-2) against fifth ranked Catolica (4-4) on Friday night. Visiting Tinguiririca was defeated by Catolica in Santiago 70-55. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Tinguiririca. It was a great evening for guard Juan Dlugoszewski (-1999) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 7 rebounds. Rodrigo Rojas helped adding 16 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side American guard RJ Smith (198-1997, college: MSSU) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Tinguiririca's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Catolica moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Puente Alto. An interesting game for Espanol O. (5-4) which hosted in Osorno 4th placed Las Animas (5-4). Third ranked Espanol O. had an easy win 91-70. It was an exceptional evening for Arnold Louis who led the winners and scored 35 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Espanol O.'s coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cristian Amicucci came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds for Las Animas in the defeat. Espanol O. maintains third place with 5-4 record having just one point less than leader Ancud, which they share with defeated Las Animas. Espanol O. will again meet Las Animas (#4) in the next round. Las Animas will have a break next round.
Other games in round 7 were not that significant. Ancud beat Castro on the road 93-77. Winless Puerto Montt lost to Puerto Varas on its own court 63-72. Los Leones outscored Liceo PN in Quilpue 111-51.
The most impressive performance of 7th round was 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists by Eduardo Lugo of Los Leones.
