Sergio Chialva claims Chilean CUP weekly honour

Sergio Chialva (C-1994) had a great game in the last round for CD Tinguiririca San Fernando and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 29-year old center had a double-double of 28 points and nineteen rebounds, while his team outclassed Liceo PN (#6, 1-9) with 44-point margin 114-70. Thanks to this victory Tinguiririca moved-up to the 4th position in Chilean CUP. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Tinguiririca will need more victories to improve their 6-4 record. In the team's last game Chialva had a remarkable 64.7% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Chialva has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 8.8rpg) and averages solid 58.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-F/C-1985) of Club Deportes Las Animas. Amicucci impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds. Of course he led Las Animas to another comfortable win 93-75 over slightly lower-ranked Puerto Varas (#5, 5-4) being unquestionably team leader. Las Animas' 4th position in Group South has not changed. His team's 7-5 record is not bad at all. Amicucci is well-known by Las Animas fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.3ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 12.2rpg and 3.7apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Yahuza Rasas (201-F-1999) of Club Deportes Castro (#7). Rasas scored 22 points and grabbed twenty four rebounds (!!!). Despite Rasas' great performance Castro lost 65-80 to the higher-ranked Valdivia (#1, 8-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Castro can only dream about fighting for top spots in Group South. They have awful season losing so far all 10 games. Rasas has individually a great season in Chile. After only 9 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.8ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 17.0rpg (#1 in league). He also has 2.3spg, 1.2bpg and FGP: 54.0%.
