Franco Morales claims Chilean Cup Hoops Agents weekly honour

Experienced International Point guard Franco Morales (181-PG-1992) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Asociacion Basquetbol Ancud and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 31-year old playmaker had the game-high 27 points adding seven rebounds and five assists for Ancud in his team's victory, helping them to beat Puerto Varas (#5, 6-6) 93-79. It allowed Ancud to consolidate first place in the Chilean CUP. Ancud have a solid 11-2 record. In the team's last game Morales had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Ancud's top player in his first season with the team. Morales has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 18.7ppg) and averages solid 55.6% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Yahuza Rasas (201-F-1999) of Club Deportes Castro. Rasas impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Castro lost that game 93-99 to slightly higher-ranked Puerto Montt (#6, 1-11). This loss caused Castro to drop to 7th position in Group South. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Castro managed to get this year. Rasas is a newcomer at Castro and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.9ppg (#7). He also registered 15.9 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Argentinian Martin Chervo (200-F) of Club Deportes Puente Alto (#4). Chervo scored 29 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Chervo's great performance Puente Alto lost 71-72 to slightly lower-ranked Catolica (#5, 5-8). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Puente Alto ranking at the top of Group Center, however are very questionable as they have already lost 7 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Chervo could help Puente Alto to bring them higher in the standings. Chervo has a great season in Chile. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.3rpg (8th best).
