LNB Round 6 (Regular Season): Castro record their first victory

Castro has finally registered their first victory this season after four consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Puerto Varas, where they defeated Puerto Varas (2-4) 91-75 on Saturday. Castro shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. American guard Latraius Mosley (198-1990, college: Life) scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Justin Jackson (203-1990, college: Cincinnati, agency: AG Sports Solutions) chipped in 22 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Yahuza Rasas (201-1999, college: PVAMU) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Castro maintains tenth position with 1-4 record, which they share with Catolica and Liceo PN. It was Puerto Varas' third loss in a row. They keep the eighth place with four games lost. They share the position with Sportiva Italiana.

Guard Juan Dlugoszewski (-1999) notched 21 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the effort and Vicente Damianovic supported him with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Catolica's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 38 points (!!!) by Gaspar Hernandez (-1999) did not help to save the game for Sportiva Italiana. Catolica (1-4) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Castro and Liceo PN. Sportiva Italiana at the other side dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Puerto Varas.
LNB top team - Ancud (6-0) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Puerto Montt (3-3) 92-80. The best player for the winners was Erik Thomas who scored 28 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Stan Scott who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Undefeated Ancud have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Loser Puerto Montt dropped to the sixth place with three games lost.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 6: Valdivia won against Liceo PN on the opponent's court 73-70. Las Animas outscored Espanol in a home game 99-79. Concepcion recorded a loss to Espanol on the road 88-81. Los Leones defeated Puente Alto on its own court 70-62. Castro was beaten by Puerto Montt in a road game 77-76. Puerto Varas lost to undefeated Ancud at home 81-109.



Liceo PN - Valdivia 70-73

Very expected game in Temuco where 10th ranked Liceo PN (1-4) was edged by fourth ranked Valdivia (4-1) 73-70 on Saturday. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was forward Dwayne Russell (203-1998, college: St.Thomas, FL) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Tirrell Brown (198-1993, college: OBU) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Domonta Wright (202-1999, college: Cleveland St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 22 rebounds and point guard Thomas Lang (183-1998, college: Shepherd) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Valdivia maintains fourth position with 4-1 record. Loser Liceo PN keeps the tenth place with four games lost. They share the position with Catolica and Castro.

The best player for the winners was American-Argentinian Erik Thomas (195-1995, college: New Orleans) who scored 28 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Grant Lozoya (190-1995, college: Pitt St.) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Ancud players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Stan Scott (193-1998, college: MSSU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Jeremy Ireland (200-1996, college: Elmhurst) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Very predictable result in Valdivia where fifth ranked Las Animas (4-2) smashed bottom-ranked Espanol (0-3) 99-79 on Saturday. Las Animas made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). American Rakim Brown (198-1991, college: Humboldt St.) chipped in 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Darnell Cowart (203-1998, college: Murray St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds.
